Reception Unit

Welcome to Reception!

The final term in Reception for our current children and there's so much still to learn and look forward to!

We are exploring a theme on JOURNEYS so please find out more about our work using our Knowledge Mat within the Term 6 link below.

We begin to prepare children for a smooth transition to Year 1 leading up to Thursday 22nd June when the children will spend the morning in their new classrooms.

We will participate in the whole school focus on Abingdon week of 12th June.  Please come along on Friday 16th June at 2.30pm to explore our learning with your child.

Our Reception Sports Day is 9.15am on Wednesday 5th July and our Success Event showcasing Jack and the Beanstalk learning is on Wednesday 12th July at 9.15 in the hall.

General Reminders

  • In Term 5, Class 1 will still do Forest School so need suitable clothing and layers EVERY THURSDAY.  No need for school uniform but a base layer is preferably P.E. kit.  Don't forget wellies, gloves and hat!
  • In Term 5, class 2 will still do P.E. so arrive in school in P.E. kit with appropriate warm layers EVERY THURSDAY.
  • A home challenge is set weekly on a Friday to be collected in by the latest, the following Thursday.
  • Water bottles - please ensure your child has a named water bottle in school.
  • The weather is improving, so don't forget to apply suncream each morning.  You can also teach your child to put on their own suncream that will need to be labelled.

In Reception, the class teachers are Mrs Sweeney (Class 1) and Mrs Edwards (Class 2) and Mrs Jackman works in both Class 1 and 2 on a Thursday and Friday.

We have great TAs supporting our children and their learning in Year 1 with Mrs Salsbury, Mrs Norris, Mrs Lovelock, Mrs Wooloff and Mrs Delaney. We're also so lucky to  have Mrs Stroud and Mrs Page teaching on certain days in the year group, and Mrs Leat teaching the year group music every Wednesday.

Hello from Mrs Sweeney, Mrs Edwards & Mrs Jackman!
