Term 3 and 4

Frozen Kingdom

This term our topic is Frozen Kingdom.

In literacy, we are going to be using the book Shackleton's Journey by William Grill to learn about Shackleton's expedition to the Antarctic and finding out about the Titanic.

In science, we will be looking at how animals are adapted to their environment and materials and their properties.

In geography, we will be looking at the different polar regions and the characteristics of their extreme climates.

In music and art, we will look at the Northern Lights (Aurora Borealis); we will create art work using chalk and oil pastels and a soundscape to depict the Northern Lights. We will also be learning about the significance of sea shanties and creating our own to accompany tasks in the classroom. We will also look at different colour tones to create abstract iceberg art. In Design and Technology, we will be making igloos out of different materials and exploring how these are constructed.
