Summer Term provision at St Nicolas

Dear Parents/Carers,

As we look forward to a well-deserved Easter break, I wanted to make you aware of some changes to our current ‘lockdown’ procedures that we hope to introduce from Term 5.  Please assume these changes will be in place from Monday April 19th unless you hear directly from me during the holidays.

I am aware that pick-up and drop-off has proved a challenge during the current lockdown period and we have made the decision to revert back to using the pedestrian gate (to the right of school) for all children and parents except for our Year 6 children.  There will be a one-way system in place so that all parents and children will exit school via the electric gate.  Breakfast Club children will continue to use the side gate nearest the community building.

We will have two drop-off and pick-up times so that KS1 and KS2 children can safely make their way to their allocated external door.  (Please see the table and map below.  Note that the map will not present accurately on your phone.  Every child has received a paper copy of this letter)

Year groups

8:45am (drop off)

3:00pm (pick up)

Year 1

Year 2

8:55am (drop off)

3:10pm (pick up)

Year 3

Year 4

Year 5

8:45am (drop off)

3:10pm (pick up)

Year 6

If any KS1 parents also have children in KS2, both sets of children can enter school from their relevant external entrances at 8:45am. All families should exit promptly from the electric gates beside the office maintaining social distancing as they leave.

Adults must continue to wear face coverings on the school site at all times.

When picking up your children, please arrive at your collection time and make your way to the relevant entrances and continue to observe the 2m rule as best you can.  When waiting for older siblings, please ensure your family find an appropriate space on the playground and social distance from others.

Year 6 children will enter and exit school from their current location point.

During the Summer term, we will continue to monitor our ‘Covid’ provision so that we can begin to consider:-

  • School hall provision
  • Lunchtime accessibility of the school hall
  • Less staggered break and lunchtimes
  • Sport and other after school club provision
  • Sports competitions within the Abingdon partnership

Parent/Teacher Interviews

We are aware that PTIs were due to take place this half-term.  As a staff team, we felt that rescheduling these meetings for the week of May 17th would be more beneficial to discuss progress and possible outcomes for the end of the academic year.  All PTIs will take place remotely and more information will follow at the beginning of Term 5.

Yours Sincerely,

Mr A Spooner
