Welcome to Reception!

In Reception we believe children learn best through play.  Although the children are in two classes we have a free flow system where they can all play together.  We have continuous provision thought the classrooms and enhance these following the theme of the term or children's interest.  

We follow the phonics scheme 'Rocket Phonics' where the children have a daily phonics lesson focussing on blending (for reading,) segmenting (for writing) or focusing on tricky words. 

In Maths we follow the NCETM Mastering Number programme and fill in the remaining weeks with Maths concepts using books as a hook.

In Reception, the class teachers are Miss Jackman (Class 1 Mon, Wed, Thurs and Fri) and Mrs Edwards Tuesday.  Miss Thomas (Class 2) and Mrs Edwards Monday afternoon and Wednesday morning. 

We have great TAs supporting our children and their learning in Reception with Mrs Salsbury, Mrs Headland, Mrs Seeney, Ms Underwood, Miss Smith and Mrs Cole-Powney. We're also so lucky to  have  Mrs Leat teaching the year group music every Wednesday morning.
