Term 3

Term 3 - Off With Her Head

Across the entire spring term (Terms 3 and 4), Year 5 explore Tudor Britain in 'Off With Her Head'. The children gain insight into where the Tudor era sat within British history, how the Tudor period began and which significant monarchs ruled England during this time period (particularly Henry VIII and Elizabeth I).

Within our history lessons, children will develop their understanding of monarchy, predecessors and successors of the throne, as well as the reason why we call it the Tudor era! Linking to this topic, this term's art topic focuses on 'Fashion Design': pupils explore work of professional designers before exploring Tudor clothing, blending the two together to create their own miniature items of clothing using their own patterns, colours and designs.
